The inflammatory B-cell response in the CSF in response to the CNS infection.

  1. Borrelia are recognized by monocytic cells,
  2. which produce the B-cell–attracting chemokine CXCL13.
  3. B cells immigrate into the CSF
  4. and mature to plasma cells.
  5. These plasma cells can produce Bb-specific antibodies
  6. that can eventually destroy the invaded spirochetes.
